ORLAND PARK, Ill. — Top 100 retailer Darvin Furniture & Mattress promoted Karla Niemiec to upholstery buyer.

Niemiec has been the Orland Park, Ill.-based retailer’s assistant upholstery buyer for the past 14 years. In this new role, she will be responsible for going to market, selecting products, merchandising and making sure items are in stock. She reports to President Will Harris.

“Karla has been such an inspiration to so many here at Darvin,” said Harris. “She has worked hard, and to see it pay off for her now is very rewarding for all of us who know what a great job she will do. Under Steve Darvin’s tutelage, she has become an outstanding talent that will help us thrive as we continue to grow the Darvin brand.

An employee of Darvin Furniture & Mattress for more than 31 years, Niemiec started as a cashier and then moved on to a credit department pricing coordinator position until stepping into the assistant buyer’s role.

“I worked directly with Steve Darvin in upholstery. He taught me everything I know,” said Niemiec. “It means everything to me to have the faith and trust Will Harris and Steve and Marty Darvin have put in me. I really enjoy the process of going to market and seeing the product, it’s very exciting.”
